O'Connor Artificial Reef (Phase II)

Cruising yacht secured to a mooring buoy near a sandy shoreline at Rottnest Island
The Problem
Expanding Coastal Protection at C.Y. O’Connor

Commercial Maritime was engaged by Jetty and Marine Constructions to provide commercial diving support for Phase II of the O’Connor Artificial Reef at C.Y. O’Connor Beach, North Coogee. The project forms part of a long-term coastal protection strategy aimed at reducing shoreline erosion while improving nearshore conditions.

The Solution
Diver-Led Installation of 144 Reef Modules

Operating from the vessel Meso II, our dive team anchored and secured 144 precast concrete reef modules to the seabed. Modules were positioned and connected in engineered groupings to ensure long-term stability under wave and swell conditions.

The Result
Improved Shoreline Protection and Marine Habitat

All works were completed safely and in accordance with project design requirements. The successful installation expanded the artificial reef system, contributing to improved coastal protection while supporting marine habitat development.
